Ah, Norway! Its majestic fjords, its northern lights… and its transport strikes! ✈️😅

Our recent adventure in this beautiful country was packed with twists and turns… and a few travel lessons. As the saying goes: the cobbler’s children always go barefoot! Two travel agents getting lost in the chaos of flight cancellations—it’s almost a joke in itself… 🙈

🛫 Slow Start

It all began on September 22nd with an internal flight from Tromsø to Oslo. We arrived casually at the airport and relaxed while waiting to board, completely oblivious to what was coming 📸☕.

The plane wasn’t taking off on time. Still in “vacation mode,” we stayed totally zen 🧘‍♀️. Then, the word “strike” started floating around… Nope, this wasn’t a drill! An hour late, we finally took off.

🏨 The Rookie Mistake

Once in Oslo, instead of checking the situation at the counter for our flight back to Paris the next day, we hopped straight onto the hotel shuttle. Rookie mistake! 🤦‍♀️

That evening around 9:25 PM, a notification dropped like a bombshell: FLIGHT CANCELED 💣

My phone suddenly became my worst enemy with conflicting info. And then began the race against time… or rather against Norwegian customer service, which isn’t exactly built for frantic calls at 10:30 PM on a Saturday night!

⏰ 5 AM Alarm & a Sea of People

The next morning, up at the crack of dawn. Off to the airport!

Surprise: a massive crowd was waiting for us 😱. Luckily, a ticket queuing system saved the day (even though someone tried to cut in line… Note to self: never underestimate the art of queuing 🎟️).

After two hours of waiting, the verdict came in: no flights back until tomorrow.

🔄 Back to Square One

Resigned but optimistic, we accepted a rerouted flight through Copenhagen for the next day and headed back to our hotel, hoping to get our room back. Stroke of luck: the room hadn’t been cleaned yet, so we got our cozy spot back! 🧹🔑

💡 The Moral of the Story?

Always keep your sense of humor, even when flights sync as well as a broken watch ⌚.

As for getting reimbursed for the extra expenses? Well… that’s another Nordic mystery yet to be solved! 💸

Either way, Norway is one trip we won’t forget! 🇳🇴❤️
